iCap investments are real estate investments issued by real estate investor and manager iCap Enterprises. Independent broker-dealers, including Financial Goal Securities, allegedly played a significant role in promoting iCap Reg D offerings and raising $245M in investor funds.

We believe that both US investors and Chinese citizens were targeted, with the latter under the impression that iCap was an opportunity to earn their green card through the EB-5 immigrant investor program. Just because some of them might have met the financial criteria required to qualify as accredited investors for a real estate offering like iCap does not mean they were necessarily sophisticated investors.

Some 1800 investors are believed to have gotten involved in iCap investments. iCap, which filed for bankruptcy protection, is now accused of being run as a purported Ponzi scam. iCap investors stopped receiving interest payments over a year ago.

Working With Skilled Reg D Investment Loss Lawyers

The majority of iCap offerings are Regulation D investments, which are risky, illiquid, complex, and generally unsuitable for retirees, retail investors, conservative senior investors, and inexperienced investors. With limited disclosures, it can be hard for a prospective investor to make an informed decision about whether a Reg D offering is appropriate for them. Add a Ponzi scam into the mix, and the results can be catastrophic.

Shepherd Smith Edwards and Kantas has been representing investors for over 30 years. We understand what Regulation D investments entail and the many ways in which broker misconduct or negligence can lead to serious portfolio losses. We also represent investors involved in real estate investment trusts (REITs) and non-traded real estate investment trusts (non-traded REITs).

As former financial advisors that left the brokerage industry because of many of the unsavory practices we witnessed, we now harness our knowledge as ex-insiders to fight for investors and hold broker-dealers liable.

We have represented clients in more than 1000 matters in arbitration, mediation, and litigation. This includes investors not just in the US, but also foreign nationals who worked with brokerage firms in this country.

When you hire with us, you aren’t just retaining one Reg D offering loss attorney, you will have everyone at our firm with more than a century’s worth of experience in securities law and the securities industry on your case.
